Position Summary:  Perform a variety of accounting activities in accordance with accounting principles and standards to control the organization's financial resources and ensure that it complies with all relevant regulations, laws, and reporting requirements. Reconcile accounts, post journal entries, and maintain a complete and accurate general ledger in accordance with accounting principles and reporting schedules so that the organization has a full and accurate statement of its financial position. Collect, compile, verify, and analyze financial information and prepare financial reports and accounting statements so that senior management has accurate and timely information for making financial decisions. These reports may include profit and loss statements, balance sheets, depreciation statements, cash flow, debtor and creditor lists, repayment schedules, regulatory reports and filings. Provide technical accounting advice within area of expertise to functional or operational areas managers to help them develop revenue and expense budgets, understand financial reports, and manage their financial responsibilities.
 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Reconcile accounts, post journal entries, and maintain a complete and accurate general ledger in accordance with accounting principles and reporting schedules so that the organization has a full and accurate statement of its financial position. Collect, compile, verify, and analyze financial information and prepare financial reports and accounting statements so that senior management has accurate and timely information for making financial decisions. These reports may include profit and loss statements, balance sheets, depreciation statements, cash flow, debtor and creditor lists, repayment schedules, regulatory reports and filings. Provide technical accounting advice within area of expertise to functional or operational areas managers to help them develop revenue and expense budgets, understand financial reports, and manage their financial responsibilities. Tracks and maintains daily receipts. Prepares bank deposits for checks, analyzes daily bank statements and posts payment to the correct vendor in the accounting system and sets up records.
    • Performs account analysis. Ensures that all journal entries are accurate.
    • Assists with accounting audits.
    • Analyzes invoices and escalates as needed.
    • Reviews receipts, journal entries and memorandums.
    • Performs bank reconciliations.
    • Computes taxes (not income) owed. Prepares tax returns and schedules to be used for tax return, ensuring compliance with government regulations.
 
  • May perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned and/or required including leading or participating in projects as necessary.

Job Requirements

Related Work Experience:  
  • Minimum 2 years accounting experience.
Education and/or formal training:


Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Accounting from a four (4) year college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Fluent in verbal and written English.
  • Able to multi-task, have demonstrated organizational, detail orientation, prioritization skills and time management skills to ensure that work related activities are completed in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Familiarity a variety of office equipment, standard software packages and application and use of personal computers to include the Microsoft Office suite of products.

  • Demonstrated problem identification and problem resolution skills used to effectively determine and implement alternative solutions and bring issues to a positive resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply assessment measurement and evaluation techniques to ensure processes, systems and applications meet business needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex of problem; gleans meaning from whatever date is available; is a quick study of the new and different; adds personal wisdom and experience to come to the best conclusion and solution, given the situation; used multiple problem-solving tools and techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). 
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Travel may be required to attend work related meetings and training sessions.
  • May be required to work a flexible schedule that provides needed coverage for customer service levels and/or time-sensitive projects. Incumbent must be able to support operations which are opened weekends and evenings.  All employees must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, holidays and emergency shifts as required.
